If my life was a blank canvas, what would I write on it?

Nothing.

I would write nothing.

If life has taught me anything, it is that it can be re-written in the most unimaginable ways and without warning or even cause. So, while I would write dreams and aspirations that were birthed from the innermost part of my heart, life could be getting a correction pen ready at hand to shock me speechless.

I have learned not to plan all the way, to guard my visions jealously, to hope for the best.

Hope. If I could draw the shape of hope and expectations then yes, sure. However, such abstract thoughts can only be…well, thought. So, I hope for the best and quite contrary to the cliché expression, expect the best.

Writing nothing does not translate to a lack of purpose or ambition. It merely means a strong connection to reality and my ability to take life as it comes, all while consciously choosing what to accept or not to accept. In retrospect, what life hands me is not a problem, my reaction to it is all that matters.

I worry about writing something down about what I want for my life and experiencing an exact opposite reality. That can be nerve-wracking. However, in writing nothing, I have given life no power over changing what comes, I have said “Bring it on”, I have also, in turn, prepared myself for anything, and every day, for every experience, with every set back, in every success, or every failure, I reserve the right to switch things up!
